Roast potatoes are a vital addition to any roast dinner, so it’s important to get them right.
With so many different methods out there, like one person who swears by the ‘ seven minute shuffle ‘ and others who have been seen to cook potatoes with Marmite, it can be hard to know which recipe to trust.
But one woman, who claims she’s created the “perfect” roast potatoes has revealed her secret ingredient – and you might be surprised.
Laura Ford from Melbourne coats her roasties in honey, an unlikely move that had her 34,000 followers on Instagram drooling.
On the post, she wrote: “The most addictive potatoes you’ll ever eat are these honey butter roast potatoes.
“The perfect balance of sweet and salty with the crispiest edges! Sorry in advance, because honestly, you won’t be able to stop eating these guys.”

Many of her followers were keen to try out the unusual recipe, with one saying: “Wow oh wow these look delicious”, while another wrote: “POTATO PERFECTION.”

- 2kg red baby potatoes, cut into 1cm slices
- 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 50g butter (can be vegan)
- All-purpose seasoning
- Salt and pepper
- 1 – 2 tbsp honey (depending on how sweet you want it)
- Fresh thyme leaves to garnish (optional)
